Ambulance Hit by SUV on I-20 in Jackson

JACKSON, Miss. — An ambulance responding to a crash on Interstate 20 West was struck by an SUV on Tuesday.

Authorities reported that emergency crews were addressing a collision involving an Acura and a water truck approximately half a mile from the Ellis Avenue Exit. As first responders returned to the ambulance, a white SUV collided with its right rear side. The SUV subsequently hit a Honda Accord before coming to a stop in the median.

According to the Mississippi Department of Transportation, the left lanes in both the east and west directions are currently closed as crews work to clear the scene.

Emergency medical services (AMR) were on site attending to the initial crash, but the number of injuries from the second collision is still unconfirmed.
