WESLEY CHAPEL, Fla. — A multi-vehicle crash on I-75 resulted in the death of a woman early Friday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
The incident occurred at approximately 2:40 a.m. on July 10 in the southbound lanes near mile marker 279, FHP officials said.
An Acura sedan, driven by a 55-year-old woman from Gainesville, collided with a Toyota Camry, operated by a 34-year-old man from Tampa. A tractor-trailer, driven by a 27-year-old man from Kentucky, was also involved in the crash.
The Camry and tractor-trailer had stopped due to an unrelated crash ahead when the Acura failed to stop in time, striking the rear of the Camry before hitting the tractor-trailer, according to FHP.
The driver of the Acura sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Both drivers of the Camry and tractor-trailer reported no injuries.
All southbound lanes of I-75 were closed at CR-54 to facilitate the investigation and clearing of the vehicles, according to authorities.
