Alcohol suspected in Big Rapids crash that killed 19-year-old and injured three teenagers.

MECOSTA COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) – A crash in Big Rapids early Friday morning left a 19-year-old driver dead and three passengers .

According to the Mecosta County Sheriff's Office, the incident occurred at approximately 2:45 a.m. on April 10 on Fuller Avenue. The driver, a resident of Morley, was navigating to the end of the road when he entered an unpaved area.

The vehicle struck a large boulder, rolled several times, and ultimately collided with a tree. The driver was and at the scene.

Three passengers, aged 14, 18, and 19, were also inside the vehicle at the time of the crash. They were transported to Corewell Hospital in Big Rapids with non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities suspect alcohol may have contributed to the incident. The investigation is ongoing.

Emergency response included personnel from Big Rapids Fire, Big Rapids Rescue, Mecosta County EMS, the Mid Michigan Medical Examiner's Office, and Meceola Central Dispatch.
