NEWAYGO COUNTY, Mich. — A 15-year-old boy died Wednesday morning following a collision with a septic truck just outside Fremont.
The incident occurred on Luce Avenue near 48th Street at approximately 7:52 a.m. on July 23, according to Michigan State Police. Investigators reported that the teen was riding a dirt bike on the road when the crash occurred.
Emergency medical personnel transported the boy to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Fremont Public Schools confirmed the victim was a high school student, and school counselors are available to support students affected by his death, as stated by Superintendent Brad Reyburn.
Troopers indicated the teen was wearing a helmet and do not suspect that alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash. Preliminary findings suggest that the teen was the at-fault driver. Authorities are actively investigating the circumstances leading to the collision.
