HINDS COUNTY, Miss. — A fatal crash occurred on the Interstate 20 frontage road in Hinds County, resulting in one death and one injury.
According to Trooper Darnika Mayfield, a 2014 Mercedes driven by a 31-year-old woman from Raymond was traveling east on the frontage road when it struck a disabled 2004 Nissan Titan in the eastbound lane. At the time of the collision, the Nissan's driver, 66-year-old Danny Johnson of Bolton, was standing beside his vehicle.
Authorities reported that Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Mercedes was transported to Baptist Medical Center in Jackson for treatment of undisclosed injuries.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol is currently investigating the incident. Additional details regarding the crash, including lane closures or road conditions, have not been released.
