MADISON COUNTY — A crash in Madison County on Wednesday afternoon resulted in one fatality and one serious injury.
The incident occurred in the 2300 block of E CR800N around 4 p.m. A blue 1999 Mercury Sable, driven by 37-year-old Darren Lockhart of Anderson, was reported traveling westbound when it began weaving in and out of the roadway.
The vehicle exited the road, striking a ditch and guardrail. Authorities stated that neither Lockhart nor the passenger, 32-year-old Robert Cantrall of Anderson, were wearing seat belts and both were ejected from the vehicle.
Lockhart was pronounced dead at the scene, while Cantrall sustained serious head injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The Madison County Sheriff's Office is continuing to investigate the crash. No further details on lane closures or towing have been released.
