DARTMOUTH, MA — A 74-year-old woman was killed in a collision with a dump truck on Route 6 at Reed Road on Monday at approximately 11:54 a.m., authorities said.
Emergency responders discovered the dump truck had pulled to the side following the incident. The driver is cooperating with the investigation, according to the Bristol County District Attorney's Office. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
State and local police are investigating the crash, but details regarding the cause remain unconfirmed. It is unclear if the driver will face any charges or citations.
Route 6 westbound was closed between Reed Road and Quarry Street for the duration of the investigation, and Reed Road was also closed from Route 6 to Woodcart Drive. Dartmouth police urged the public to avoid the area and seek alternative routes.
Initial reports mistakenly referred to the victim as a pedestrian involved in the crash. This incident follows a separate crash on Route 6 that resulted in two fatalities late Friday.
