ROCK FALLS, Ill. — A two-vehicle crash on U.S. Route 30 resulted in one fatality and multiple injuries on September 8 at approximately 3:30 p.m.
According to the Whiteside County Sheriff's Office, the collision occurred at the I-88 Mile Marker 44 westbound on-ramp. A red Chevrolet Impala was traveling west on Route 30 and failed to yield to eastbound traffic before being struck by a red Ford truck.
Authorities confirmed that the passenger in the Impala was killed, while both drivers sustained serious injuries. Sheriff John F. Booker stated, “This is a tragic crash that has claimed a life and left others seriously injured. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families affected. My office is committed to a full and thorough investigation into this matter.”
The identities of the victims have not yet been released. Emergency services responded to the scene, and lane closures were implemented for the investigation. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
