A two- crash early Wednesday morning in Stoughton, Massachusetts, claimed the life of a North Carolina man, authorities said.

At approximately 6:15 a.m., police responded to a collision involving a and a Highlander near 1463 Turnpike St. (Route 139). The carried two men, while the Highlander was driven by a Quincy woman.

All three individuals were transported to Boston Medical Center. Michael Unman, 59, of Mint Hill, North Carolina, was at the hospital; his passenger, a Pennsylvania man, sustained serious injuries.

The Quincy woman reported that she was returning home from an overnight shift at a local hotel at the time of the incident. She regained consciousness following the crash.

The roadway remained closed for several hours due to debris, including wires from a damaged telephone pole. Both vehicles were towed to a secure facility, and an investigation is ongoing.

Authorities initially stated that the deceased victim was from Pennsylvania.
