Delays on Eastbound I-70 in Jefferson County Following Semitrailer Crash

JEFFERSON COUNTY, CO—A semitrailer veered off eastbound Interstate 70 and crashed onto U.S. 6 on Thursday, causing significant traffic delays.

As of 12:30 p.m., one lane of eastbound I-70 was closed between C-470 and U.S. 6/Sixth Avenue in Golden, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation. The closure is estimated to be resulting in delays of up to 20 minutes.

Additionally, eastbound U.S. 6 is closed between Johnson Road and U.S. 40 due to the incident, officials stated.

The semitrailer, which was hauling gravel, went over the bridge onto U.S. 6. State Patrol Trooper Sherri Mendez confirmed that U.S. 6 is expected to remain closed for an extended period.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.
