One person was killed in a crash Thursday afternoon in Pettis County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP), a 2021 Lexus QX was traveling northbound on Highway 50 at Chevalier Road when it failed to stop at a stop sign at 3:22 p.m. The Lexus entered the path of an oncoming 2023 GMC Yukon.
The front of the GMC struck the side of the Lexus, causing both vehicles to go off the road. An 81-year-old woman from Oak Grove was pronounced dead at the scene at 4 p.m.
MSHP officials noted it remains unclear whether the victim was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and no additional details have been released.
