Grand Island, Neb. — A two-vehicle crash on Highway 281 near Guenther Road resulted in one fatality on September 17, 2025, around 10:36 a.m.
According to preliminary reports, a 2021 Freightliner box truck driven by 35-year-old Adrian Sanchez Rios of Grand Island lost control while heading north, crossed the median, and struck a 2017 Chevrolet pickup traveling south on the driver's side. The driver of the Chevrolet has not yet been identified and was pronounced dead at the scene.
An accident reconstruction team has been requested to aid in the investigation. An autopsy will be performed on the deceased driver. Authorities said that the investigation is ongoing, and additional details will be released as they become available. There were no confirmed reports of additional injuries.
