HONOLULU (Island News) – A crash involving an e-motorcycle occurred in Kaimuki on Tuesday morning, leaving one rider in critical condition.
The incident took place at approximately 6:27 a.m. on Waialae Ave. A 67-year-old man, traveling eastbound, made a left turn into a driveway and was struck by a 33-year-old man on an e-motorcycle.
Emergency medical services responded, transporting the 33-year-old rider—who was not wearing a helmet—to a local hospital in critical condition. The 67-year-old driver remained at the scene and reported no injuries.
Temporary road closures were implemented from 6:44 a.m. until about 8:23 a.m. All lanes on Waialae Ave have since reopened.
Authorities stated that speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the collision; however, it remains unclear if drugs were involved. The investigation is ongoing.
