A Massachusetts State Police trooper died from injuries sustained in an off-duty motorcycle crash in Grafton on Sunday evening.
Trooper Jacob Mick, 31, of Northborough, was involved in a collision at the intersection of Route 122 and Milford Road around 6 p.m. Witnesses reported that Mick was riding his motorcycle when it collided with a passenger vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the passenger vehicle was transported to UMass Lakeside, where they are expected to survive, according to the Worcester District Attorney's Office.
Authorities are conducting an investigation into the incident, with assistance from Grafton Police, the Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council, State Police detectives, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
Massachusetts State Police Col. Geoffrey Noble expressed condolences, stating, “Together, we mourn Trooper Jacob Mick, and extend our deepest sympathies to his wife, their infant daughter, his family, and all who loved him.” He highlighted Mick's service to the department and the community.
State Representative David Muradian announced a meeting with Massachusetts Department of Transportation officials and local leaders to discuss the circumstances of the crash and future safety measures.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not released additional details regarding potential road restrictions or ongoing traffic patterns.
