Fatal Crash on Turnpike Claims Life of Driver
LANSING, KS — A collision involving a Jeep and a Honda Civic occurred on the Turnpike early Thursday morning, resulting in the death of the Civic's driver.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP), the incident happened around 2:41 a.m. when the Jeep struck the rear of the Honda Civic. The impact caused the Civic to veer off the roadway, landing in a ditch and colliding with a tree line.
Emergency responders from local agencies arrived on the scene shortly after the collision. Despite medical aid being administered, the driver of the Honda Civic, a 32-year-old male, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Jeep sustained minor injuries.
Authorities reported that both vehicles were significantly damaged in the crash, necessitating towing services to clear the roadway. Traffic was diverted while emergency crews worked, leading to temporary lane closures.
