Bouncing truck tire causes I-70 crash that kills 58-year-old Kwaku Nyamekye.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Authorities on June 25 identified the driver killed in a June 19 I-70 eastbound crash near downtown Columbus.

According to the Franklin County Coroner's Office, the victim is Kwaku Nyamekye, 58.

Police said Nyamekye was at 4:20 p.m. June 19 near mile marker 102 on I-70 east, about 1 mile from the I-71 interchange.

According to the Columbus Police Accident Investigation Unit, the crash occurred around 4:11 p.m. when the left rear trailer tire of a westbound Freightliner broke free, went over the concrete barrier and entered the eastbound lanes near the Miller and Kelton avenues exits.

Authorities said the tire struck a Taurus driven by Nyamekye, a gray Terrain and a white Tucson.

Columbus Police said the Accident Investigation Unit is handling the investigation.
