WEST GLACIER, Mont. — A pilot was fatally injured in a crash involving an experimental Vans RV-7A N30SG aircraft on August 12, 2025, at 2:57 p.m., according to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).
The aircraft encountered difficulties while attempting to land at Ryan Field Airport, executing two landing attempts. Witnesses reported that during the second attempt, the plane's right wing struck a tree adjacent to the runway. The airplane then rolled upside down before impacting the terrain in a nose-down position, the NTSB indicated.
Emergency services responded promptly, but the pilot suffered fatal injuries in the incident. The NTSB is currently conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash, with more details expected to emerge as the inquiry progresses.
