Motorcyclist Killed in Rear-End Collision in Shepherd
SHEPHERD — A 69-year-old Billings man died in a motorcycle crash on U.S. Highway 312 near Shining Mountain Drive Sunday afternoon around 3:15 p.m., according to the Montana Highway Patrol.
The collision involved a Harley Davidson motorcycle and a Subaru Impreza driven by a 25-year-old woman from Billings, who had a 3-year-old girl as a passenger. Authorities reported that the motorcycle was slowing to turn into a business when it was rear-ended by the Subaru.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, while the two occupants of the Subaru were taken to the hospital as a precaution. The driver of the Subaru sustained minor injuries.
Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Derek White indicated that alcohol is a suspected factor in the crash. The rider was not wearing a helmet at the time of the incident, which remains under investigation.
