A 45-year-old woman was killed in Boston on Saturday after a carjacking suspect struck her before crashing into an MBTA .

Ibraim Matos, 37, of Hyde Park, faces charges of murder, carjacking, and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and personal injury. He is set to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on Monday.

Authorities identified the victim as Binty Johnson. Family members described her as a loving, caring person who made a positive impact on those around her.

According to Boston Police, officers responded to the 1600 block of Blue Hill Avenue in Mattapan at approximately 2 p.m. for reports of a being hit. Investigators revealed that Matos was involved in a crash at Woodhaven and Blue Hill Avenue before allegedly carjacking another vehicle near a wash. Witnesses stated that workers at the wash attempted to intervene.

Matos struck Johnson at the intersection of Fairway Street and Blue Hill Avenue. Witnesses reported that bystanders restrained Matos until police arrived on scene. Traffic remained closed in the area until 9 p.m. on Saturday. Matos was transported to the hospital for his injuries.
