NEUSE RIVER BRIDGE REOPENED FOLLOWING CRASH
NEW BERN, Craven County — The Neuse River Bridge has reopened to northbound and southbound traffic after a vehicle crash disrupted morning commutes.
A construction truck collided in the northbound lanes, scattering debris and causing significant backups from New Bern to Bridgeton. As a result, the northbound lanes were temporarily closed, with only one lane remaining open southbound for limited traffic from Bridgeton to New Bern.
According to the State Highway Patrol, some injuries have been reported due to the incident. New Bern Police Department officers assisted in managing traffic at the scene. Authorities are urging motorists to seek alternate routes while cleanup efforts were underway.
Investigation into the crash is ongoing, and as of now, there is no confirmed timeline for the full opening of all lanes. News 12 will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
