Jeep Recall: Software Issue Increases Crash Risk for Drivers

Chrysler Recalls Nearly 100,000 Jeep Grand Cherokees Due to Safety Risk

CINCINNATI (WKRC) — Chrysler has issued a recall affecting approximately 91,787 Jeep Grand Cherokee Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs) due to a software error that may lead to a loss of drive power.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced the recall on Sept. 4, indicating that the issue arises from a problem with the hybrid control processor. This defect increases the risk of a crash, prompting urgent action from the manufacturer.

Included in the recall are 2022 to 2026 models of the Jeep Grand Cherokee PHEV. Chrysler representatives stated that they are actively developing a remedy. Customers affected by the recall can expect to receive a notification letter by Oct. 23, 2025.

No confirmed injuries or fatalities related to this issue have been reported at this time.
