BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. — A 14-year-old boy was fatally struck by a vehicle Friday night on North Congress Avenue, according to Boynton Beach Police.

The incident occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m. while Christopher Cetoute was crossing the roadway. Authorities said he was southbound when hit by a 35-year-old driver, who police believe was speeding. Christopher was not crossing at a designated crosswalk and was at the scene.

Emergency personnel from Boynton Beach Fire Rescue responded. No additional injuries were reported. The driver has not faced any charges as police investigate the circumstances of the crash.

Witnesses reported seeing a growing memorial at the site, with flowers and a balloon honoring Christopher. Friends described him as a dedicated student at Congress Middle School with a passion for basketball and track.

A local resident, Caurline Robinson, expressed her grief over the incident, recalling her own loss to a speeding driver. Robinson noted that she has witnessed multiple accidents along Congress Avenue and called for increased safety measures.

A vigil in memory of Christopher Cetoute is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday at the memorial site on North Congress Avenue.
