LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — Ephrata police charged a man following a DUI-related crash early on April 15.
The incident occurred around 12:13 a.m. in the 800 block of East Main Street in Ephrata Township. Authorities said Christopher Ulrich, 49, was driving a Jeep Wrangler when he collided with a pedestrian crossing sign and veered into the center median.
The Jeep subsequently caught fire, though Ulrich did not sustain injuries. According to police, he “exhibited signs of impairment.” A breath test allegedly revealed a blood alcohol concentration of .168%, more than double Pennsylvania's legal limit.
Ulrich faces two DUI misdemeanors and three traffic citations, as per online court records. He is pending a preliminary arraignment.
