GREENACRES, Fla. — A 73-year-old woman died Friday after experiencing a medical emergency while driving in the Nautica Isles community.
According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, Ledi Flores was driving westbound at an idle speed when she lost consciousness and struck the rear of another vehicle that was stopped in traffic. The collision resulted in only minor damage.
Witnesses noticed Flores was unresponsive and promptly called for assistance. Greenacres Fire Rescue extricated her from the vehicle and transported her to John F. Kennedy Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
Investigators reported that Flores had a history of hypertension, high cholesterol, and sleep apnea. The cause of death was determined to be medical in nature rather than a result of the crash.
