DEARBORN COUNTY, Ind. — Two women died and three others were injured in a head-on collision on US 52 early Sunday morning.
According to Indiana State Police, the crash occurred when a vehicle illegally passed in a no-passing zone, colliding head-on with a semitruck. The deceased were identified as Kimora Manuel, 21, and Le'Marea Holmes, 22.
Two individuals sustained life-threatening injuries, while the truck driver sustained minor injuries. Emergency responders transported the injured to local hospitals.
Authorities confirmed that weather conditions, including heavy rain, and potential alcohol use may have contributed to the incident. This crash adds to concerns from residents, who have reported a series of accidents along this highway stretch.
