LOUDON, N.H. — Five vehicles were involved in crashes on Route 106 in Loudon Wednesday afternoon after a fire suppression system at a nearby gas station was accidentally activated.

According to Loudon Fire Officials, wind transported fire-retardant powder from the gas station onto the roadway, temporarily blinding drivers. Witnesses reported multiple collisions as a result of the limited visibility.

Emergency responders confirmed that one individual was taken to a local hospital as a precautionary measure. There were no reported fires or fatalities.

The incident prompted lane closures while authorities managed the scene. Cleanup operations were underway to remove the fire-retardant material from the road. Investigation into the circumstances surrounding the system activation is ongoing.
