Honda is recalling over 880,000 vehicles due to potential rear suspension failures, increasing the risk of crashes or injuries.
According to American Honda Motor Co., the recall affects certain 2016-2022 Honda Pilot, 2017-2023 Ridgeline, 2019-2023 Passport, and 2014-2020 Acura MDX vehicles.
The recall includes 880,514 vehicles sold across multiple states, including Connecticut, New York, and California, among others.
The issue involves corrosion at suspension mounting points on the rear subframe, which can lead to failure. Honda estimates only 1% of the affected vehicles may exhibit this defect.
Authorities report no warranty claims and no injuries or fatalities related to this defect have been recorded.
Honda dealers will inspect the rear subframe and may install a reinforcement kit or replace components, all at no cost to owners.
Owner notification letters are scheduled to be mailed by July 7, and vehicle identification numbers affected by this recall will be available on NHTSA.gov starting June 10.
