SIOUX FALLS — Two motorcyclists were killed in a crash late Friday evening, June 6, on Russell Street.

According to authorities, 56-year-old Erik Boyles and 55-year-old Travis Gallop, both from Sioux Falls, collided while riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles shortly after 9:15 p.m. The incident occurred west of Kiwanis Avenue as both bikers approached a curve in the road.

Both riders lost control, crashing into a center median and guardrail. They were at the scene.

Investigators are looking into whether speed was a contributing factor. Toxicology reports have not yet been returned, leaving the role of drugs or alcohol uncertain.

Sgt. Travis Olsen emphasized the importance of safe riding practices, stating, “Unfortunately, we see way too many fatalities in this community, and the hard, difficult truth is that the majority of these fatalities result from operator error.”

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the crash. No lane closures were reported following the incident.
