Brookings – A 24-year-old man died Sunday morning, November 25, in a one-vehicle crash on 216th St., one mile south of Brookings.
According to the Brookings County Sheriff's Office, the incident occurred at approximately 7:15 a.m. The vehicle, a 2015 Ford Explorer, was traveling southbound when it lost control and rolled over.
Authorities confirmed the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger, a 23-year-old woman, sustained serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The Brookings County Sheriff's Office and Brookings Fire Department responded to the crash. Traffic on 216th St. was closed for several hours as investigators processed the scene and cleared the vehicles.
No additional injuries were reported. An investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
