SPARTA TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A 16-year-old boy was seriously injured in a pickup truck collision while riding a mini bike at 10:30 p.m. Friday.
According to the Kent County Sheriff's Office, the teen was traveling west on 13 Mile Road without a functioning headlight. A 31-year-old man driving a pickup truck was heading south on North Division Avenue and reportedly did not see the mini bike.
Authorities confirmed the pickup truck came to a complete stop at the intersection before it was struck by the mini bike. The impact occurred on the side of the truck.
The injured rider was transported to a local hospital and is listed in critical condition. The Kent County Sheriff's Office is conducting an investigation into the incident.
