JUPITER ISLAND, FL—Tiger Woods was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence following a crash on Tuesday, prompting him to seek treatment for well-being.
According to the Martin County Sheriff's Office, Woods, 50, was driving a Land Rover when it collided with a truck on a residential road, causing the vehicle to roll onto its side. Neither Woods nor the truck driver was injured, but the truck sustained approximately $5,000 in damage.
Witnesses reported Woods appeared impaired, exhibiting slow movements, bloodshot eyes, and slurred speech. Authorities discovered two hydrocodone pills in his pocket, identified as opioids used for pain relief. Woods stated he had taken prescription medication earlier that day.
Woods pleaded not guilty to DUI charges in Florida court, planning to waive his appearance at an upcoming arraignment on April 23. He agreed to a Breathalyzer test, which showed no alcohol present, but refused a urine test.
Deputies noted Woods struggled during field sobriety tests, displaying signs of impairment. He has been involved in multiple crashes over the years, with this incident following a significant car accident in 2021 that nearly resulted in leg amputation.
Woods' attorney and agent have not commented on the situation. He remains on the PGA Tour Board, where he is involved in reshaping competition models.
