Two Crashes on Route 24 in Southern Massachusetts Early Sunday Morning
BRIDGEWATER, MA — Two crashes occurred overnight on Route 24, one in Bridgewater and another in West Bridgewater, on Sunday, October 1.
The first incident happened at 2:41 a.m. on Route 24 south just after the Route 104 exit in Bridgewater. Emergency crews removed one vehicle from the woods, and the right lane was temporarily closed. No injuries have been reported.
A second crash occurred at approximately 2:35 a.m. on Route 24 south near mile marker 26 in West Bridgewater. Multiple vehicles were involved, and one damaged fire engine was seen in the roadway.
According to West Bridgewater fire officials, while responding to the initial crash, one of their fire engines was rear-ended by a vehicle traveling at a high speed. All firefighters were outside the truck at the time and were unharmed.
Firefighters provided medical assistance to the driver of the vehicle that struck the fire engine. The individual was transported by ambulance to a local hospital; the extent of their injuries is currently unknown.
