A 57-year-old man is dead following a crash into a home in Hanson on Monday evening.

First responders were dispatched to 481 High St. shortly before 6:30 p.m. They found a pickup truck overturned, having struck the home's front windows.

The driver was unconscious inside the vehicle and required extrication by firefighters. He was transported to Brockton Hospital, where he later died.

According to Hanson Police Chief Michael Casey, the homeowner was inside at the time but was in a different room.

Witness Chris Briggs reported hearing a loud crash while outside. “It sounded like a dump truck dropping something off,” he said. He quickly called for help after seeing the truck inside the home.

Neighbors attempted to assist the driver but were unable to get a response due to airbag deployment.

Photos from the scene reveal significant damage to the home's exterior and interior. High Street remains closed between Holmes and Main streets as crews respond to the incident.

The crash is under investigation by the Hanson Police Department, the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office, and the Massachusetts State Police.
