LONG BRANCH, NJ — A woman was fatally injured in a single-vehicle crash on the Garden State Parkway on Sunday afternoon.
Authorities said the accident occurred at approximately 2:41 p.m. near mile marker 105. The pickup truck, carrying two individuals, veered off the roadway and collided with several trees. The driver, a 45-year-old man from Long Branch, sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Emergency responders from the New Jersey State Police and local EMS arrived at the scene shortly after the incident. Medical personnel pronounced the 43-year-old female passenger dead at the scene. Her identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
Witnesses reported seeing the vehicle leave the road prior to the impact. The right lane of the Parkway was closed for about two hours as authorities conducted their investigation and cleared the wreckage.
According to the New Jersey State Police, the cause of the crash is still under investigation. No charges have been filed at this time. Further updates will be provided as they become available.
