A fatal crash has closed the southbound lanes of U.S. 85 at 136th Avenue in Brighton as of 6:30 a.m. Friday.
According to the Brighton Police Department, the incident is under investigation as a fatal crash. Police Chief Matt Domenico indicated that the southbound lanes are expected to remain closed for several hours while authorities respond to the scene.
Motorists are advised to use alternative routes, including Sable Boulevard, Brighton Road, or Interstate 76, to avoid delays.
Emergency response teams, including local police and medical aid, are currently at the scene. The Colorado Department of Transportation is monitoring the situation and will provide updates as available.
