Driver injured after crash on Clark Memorial Bridge

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A vehicle accident occurred on the Clark Memorial Bridge (Second Street Bridge) Saturday morning, resulting in temporary lane closures for repairs.

According to Louisville Metro Police, the crash happened around 7:45 a.m. on the bridge, with the vehicle stopping at the base on the Kentucky side. Preliminary investigations indicate that the vehicle was traveling north when it lost control, struck a sidewalk barrier, and came to rest along the bridge.

No other vehicles or individuals were involved in the incident. The driver was transported to UofL Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to emergency medical services.

Authorities reported that the area under the bridge near Troll Pub Under the Bridge and Sidebar is blocked off. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) assessed the structure and confirmed there is no structural damage to the bridge itself.

Motorists should anticipate lane closures from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday as crews work on repairing a damaged section of railing. KYTC noted that this railing, located adjacent to the northbound sidewalk, had been impacted in a previous crash. The northbound sidewalk has been closed to pedestrians since December. Drivers are advised to exercise caution and adhere to all posted signs during this time.
