SEAFORD, DE – May 11, 2026, 11:12 a.m. ET – A 56-year-old man has died following a motorcycle crash near Seaford, according to the Delaware State Police.
The man, a resident of the Seaford area, has not yet been identified pending family notification. This incident contributes to a rising trend in traffic fatalities statewide, with Delaware reporting 41 deaths so far in 2026, a 24% increase compared to 33 fatalities during the same period last year.
The crash occurred on May 9 at approximately 9:20 p.m. on River Road, near Woodland Ferry Road. Authorities said the victim was riding a Yamaha XVS motorcycle westbound when he lost control while navigating a curve. The motorcycle skidded off the roadway and fell onto its side.
Emergency responders transported the man to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he later succumbed on May 10.
