BILLINGS — Family of motorcyclist killed in 2023 crash protests outside Yellowstone County Courthouse, demanding justice for Robert Bare.

The family of Robert Bare, 24, who died in a collision on April 8, 2023, is advocating for more serious charges against the driver involved. Silena and Sheldon Bare demonstrated outside the courthouse on Monday, expressing frustration over the lack of acknowledgment of their son's death in the ongoing legal proceedings.

Robert Bare was riding his down Fourth Avenue North when a vehicle entered the intersection at North 24th Street, colliding with him. According to the Billings Police Department, Bare was traveling at a “high rate of speed”; however, specific speeds were not disclosed. The crash him from the motorcycle, leading to fatal injuries.

Three years later, authorities have charged the driver, Telisha Williams, with two counts of felony child endangerment, as two children aged 1 and 3 were in her vehicle at the time. No charges directly related to Bare's death have been filed, prompting the family's protest. “I want my son mentioned. I want some justice,” Sheldon Bare stated.

A blood test indicated Williams had 53 nanograms of THC per milliliter in her system, exceeding Montana's legal limit of 5 nanograms. Legal experts noted this level could be significant, but it does not automatically warrant homicide charges.

The Bare family continues to seek accountability, insisting their son's name be recognized in the legal proceedings.
