One person killed and another injured when vehicle crashes into tree near Kalispell.

FLATHEAD COUNTY — One person died and another was injured in a crash on Trumble Creek Road near Birch Grove Road on Monday, May 4, 2026.

According to the Montana Highway Patrol, a southbound Liberty lost control at approximately 2:17 p.m. The vehicle crossed the center line, left the roadway, sideswiped bushes, became airborne, and struck a tree.

A 40-year-old female passenger from Kalispell was at the scene; she was not wearing a seatbelt. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released.

The 55-year-old male driver from Kalispell sustained injuries and was transported to Logan Health Kalispell. He was wearing a seatbelt; details regarding the nature and extent of his injuries are pending.

Road conditions were reported as bare and dry at the time of the incident. The Montana Highway Patrol stated that alcohol and/or drugs are suspected factors in the crash.
