JACKSON, Miss. — City leaders have approved a settlement in a wrongful death case related to a 2018 crash that killed a teenager.
The case involved Francis Fortner, a 17-year-old high school senior who died after her vehicle struck a loose manhole cover on Ridgewood Road while driving to graduation practice, authorities said.
City officials indicated the settlement aims to provide relief and closure to Fortner's family. Her death initiated a prolonged legal battle among multiple parties linked to a road project in the crash area.
Specific details of the settlement have not been disclosed.
