MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Investigators are reviewing a break-in at the late NASCAR driver Greg Biffle's home that occurred on Jan. 8, following the tragic plane crash that claimed his life and his family.

Authorities confirmed that two individuals, acquaintances of Biffle and his wife, Cristina, are suspected of breaking into their residence and stealing more than $30,000 in cash, two Glock handguns, and other valuables. The Iredell County Sheriff's Office has issued over 40 search warrants, focusing on this married couple who allegedly planned the crime for financial gain, according to Sheriff Darren Campbell.

Biffle, his wife, and their two children died on Dec. 18, 2022, when their plane crashed. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is currently investigating the incident. Survivors of those killed in the crash are pursuing lawsuits against Biffle's estate and the pilot's estate for millions.

According to a search warrant affidavit, the husband met Biffle while delivering aid post-Hurricane Helene, and the woman had attended a recent party at their home. The break-in occurred shortly after Biffle's death, with authorities noting the intruder spent nearly six hours inside the house, familiar with its layout.

Further investigation revealed key financial crimes linked to the Biffle estate, including unauthorized online access to bank accounts and fraudulent transactions. The sheriff did not confirm whether the burglary suspects are involved in these financial crimes as the investigation continues.

In related developments, lawsuits alleging negligence against Biffle's estate have been filed by the estates of the deceased pilot, Dennis Dutton, and his son, with claims totaling at least $15 million each.
