TUCSON, Ariz. (TNND) — A 3-year-old girl was killed, and her pregnant mother injured in a multi-car accident involving street racing suspects on Friday at 1 p.m.
Authorities reported that Christian Isaiah Randall, 22, and a 16-year-old boy face multiple charges, including second-degree murder. The crash occurred at the intersection of Valencia Road and Country Club Road when a Hyundai Genesis, driven by Randall, collided with a Toyota Camry that was making a left turn.
The impact split the Camry in half. The child was secured in a car seat and suffered fatal injuries, while her mother was hospitalized. The pregnant woman is receiving care, and family members are focusing on her recovery.
Witnesses and investigations revealed that the Genesis, allegedly speeding alongside a Dodge Charger, was traveling well above the posted speed limit before the collision. Police tracked down the Charger, leading to the identification of the 16-year-old, who was also reportedly driving recklessly.
Randall, who sustained minor injuries, was arrested and is being held at the Pima County Adult Detention Complex on a $500,000 bond. The minor was booked into the Pima County Juvenile Detention Center.
The Tucson Police Department is continuing the investigation and has expressed gratitude to the community for their support.
