One Dead in Aiken County Golf Cart Accident Early Saturday
AIKEN — An 86-year-old man died in a golf cart accident early Saturday in Aiken County.
Ronald New of Aiken was driving an EZ-GO golf cart west on Powell Pond Road around 12:40 a.m. when he veered off the left side of the road, near Scotch Lane, and crashed into a ditch, ejecting him from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:10 a.m. from blunt force injuries, according to Aiken County Coroner Darryl Ables.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Coroner's Office are investigating, and toxicology results are pending.
