One dead, two injured in Suffolk three-vehicle crash on Whaleyville Boulevard
SUFFOLK, Va. — A three-vehicle crash on Whaleyville Boulevard left one man dead and two others injured Friday morning, according to Suffolk Police.
Authorities received a call around 8 a.m. regarding the incident in the 3900 block. The crash involved two cars and a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV).
Officers pronounced 69-year-old Alvin Lee Ward from Suffolk dead at the scene. A passenger in the same car sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital. A third individual in a separate vehicle was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the CMV remained unharmed.
The crash prompted a full closure of the 3900 block of Whaleyville Boulevard for nearly six hours, though the area has since reopened.
Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
