Four Injured in Three- Crash on Country Road 39 in Southampton

A three-vehicle collision on Country Road 39 in Southampton early Monday morning, October 4, sent four individuals to the hospital, some with serious injuries.

According to Southampton Town Police, emergency calls were received at approximately 10:30 a.m. Patrol units and first responders from Southampton Volunteer Fire Department, Southampton Ambulance, Hampton Bays Volunteer Ambulance, and Southampton Village Ambulance were dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, officers found a 2019 van, a 2007 Subaru, and a parked 2009 Honda involved in the crash. The 34-year-old male driver of the van from Shirley, along with his 35-year-old male passenger from Flanders, was traveling east on CR 39 when the 58-year-old female driver of the Subaru from Delmar, New York, and her 60-year-old male passenger entered the roadway from a driveway, attempting to head west.

The van collided with the Subaru, then rotated and struck the Subaru again before continuing off the roadway into the parked Honda. Three victims were transported to a local hospital, while the Subaru passenger was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries.

The road was closed from approximately 11 a.m. until 12:35 p.m. The Southampton Town Police Detective Division is continuing the investigation. Authorities encourage anyone with information or who witnessed the crash to contact detectives at 631-702-2230.
