Passenger dies in Route 70 crash; four others injured

MANCHESTER, NJ—A crash involving two vans on Route 70 Monday morning resulted in one fatality and four injuries.

The incident occurred at approximately 8:15 a.m. near Hilltop Road. Authorities reported that a 2014 Dodge van, carrying four people, collided with a 2017 Ford Sprinter van while both were traveling west on Route 70.

As the Ford turned left onto Hilltop Road, the Dodge allegedly crossed over the double yellow line, overtaking stopped traffic, and struck the Ford. A passenger in the Dodge's cargo compartment was at the scene, while the three individuals in the front seat were transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. The Ford's driver was taken to Community Medical Center in Toms River for treatment of minor injuries.

The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office, in conjunction with Manchester Police and the Ocean County Sheriff's Office, is conducting an investigation into the crash.
