SAINT ROSE, La. — A 10-year-old boy and a 42-year-old woman are in serious condition following a four-wheeler crash in St. Charles Parish on Friday evening.

According to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to the incident around 8 p.m. at the intersection of Palomino Drive and Mustang Lane. Video surveillance revealed that the boy was operating the four-wheeler with the woman as a passenger when they veered off the roadway, struck a stop sign, and collided with a tree.

Both individuals were transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries and remain in serious condition. Authorities emphasized that operating an ATV, such as a four-wheeler, is prohibited on public streets in St. Charles. They also urged the public to wear helmets and protective gear, maintain safe speeds, and stay alert while driving.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
