OCALA, Fla. (CBS12) — Two teenagers were arrested in Ocala for separate social media stunts involving a leaf blower and a lawnmower.
According to the Ocala Police Department, Janek Szkaradek and Luke Charske, both 18, were taken into custody for incidents occurring on Friday and Saturday.
On Friday, Szkaradek created a disturbance with a leaf blower at a Culver's on SW College Road, raising safety concerns among employees and customers.
The following day, he drove a lawnmower through the entrance of a Target store while Charske filmed the incident.
Szkaradek faces charges of criminal mischief and disorderly conduct for both actions, while Charske is charged with disorderly conduct for filming the stunt.
“These are crimes, not harmless videos,” a police statement read, warning that social media stunts can have serious legal repercussions. “Think before you record—it's not worth an arrest and a criminal charge.”
Authorities noted that the actions posed risks to individuals inside the businesses and resulted in property damage. An investigation into the incidents is ongoing.
