Deadly Plane Crash at LaGuardia Airport Investigated
A plane crash at LaGuardia Airport in New York occurred on October 10, 2023, at approximately 2:41 p.m.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), a small aircraft went down on the runway, resulting in multiple injuries. Emergency medical teams from the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) and Port Authority Police quickly responded to the scene to provide aid to the injured.
Authorities confirmed that there were four occupants aboard the aircraft. One occupant was pronounced dead at the scene, while three others were transported to area hospitals with serious injuries. Their conditions have not yet been disclosed.
The crash prompted the closure of Runway 4 and affected air traffic operations at the airport. Passengers were advised to check for flight delays and cancellations.
Investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have begun examining the circumstances surrounding the crash. Witnesses reported seeing thick smoke rising from the aircraft shortly after the impact.
