Raw chicken spill from three semi-trucks causes partial shutdown of I-81 in Cumberland County.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — A crash involving three tractor-trailers occurred early Wednesday on I-81 northbound, causing significant debris, according to PennDOT.

The accident took place around 3:25 a.m. near mile marker 28, resulting in a spill of raw chicken from one vehicle and other materials across the roadway. One of the involved trucks was also reported to be carrying mail, while the cargo of the third vehicle remains unknown.

Emergency response teams from Franklin County assisted with lane closures on the interstate. Lane restrictions were implemented between mile markers 24 and 29 as crews worked to clear the scene.

Authorities confirmed that I-81 northbound would remain closed for several hours. One individual sustained injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment.

As of 9:30 a.m., the roadway has reopened. The spilled chicken was taken to a landfill following cleanup efforts.
